- Table manners is really important because it shows one’s upbringing and that he/she is a civilized person. For example, if you make noises when you are chewing, people who are sitting around may feel annoyed. On the other hand, if you show good table etiquette, others will have a good impression of you, you will get more dinner invitations, and you can make more friends.
- Yes, I agree with Mr. Ingham’s explanation on the importance of table manners. He put importance to learn table manners specially for social gatherings or important occasions where one is invited even though he/she may not care about table manners at his/her own house.
F. Mr. Ingham has given some tips on table manners especially when you are eating with others. His tips cover a number of areas which are mentioned in the box. Read each of the tips from number 1-7, match them with the title of the areas given in the box and write them in the blank spaces. The first one is done for you.
In my everyday dining practice, I follow proper Bangladeshi table manners whether at home or in the houses of my friends or relatives. These tips given in the lesson are very helpful because these tips show and teach us how to be considerate and respectful to others during any meal. Every culture or country has its own etiquette however following the tips in the lesson will help us to be more polished in our dealings with others in various occasions and gatherings .
