Becoming Skilled Workforce
There are ways of upgrading the unskilled population into a skilled workforce by applying a few ways to develop the economy of our country. The following ideas can be implemented for bringing a new and modified workforce for making the country develop.
The primary reason for the lack of a skilled workforce is illiteracy as it directly impacts the productivity of any country. There are many people who dropped out of primary and secondary education due to various reasons and higher education still being costly remains out of reach of the poor families. So, education is a must for a skilled workforce and it must be ensured at all costs.
Even though some portion of the population gain education but mostly remains theoretical in nature. That’s why technical education and knowledge should be given priority as the world requires a practical workforce and technical expertise for overall development. Otherwise, a skilled workforce will not be possible with bookish knowledge only.
Regular training should be given to the young generation free of cost and also in-house training to the employees of an institution. Training can be arranged on electric or computer technology, agriculture, industrial skills, and work ethics. It is also important for people to learn English or any international/second language to be globally competitive and skilled manpower. So, language learning is equally important for a standard communicative purpose.
Students in their last year of study should be given chance to work on practically whatever they learned in their academic years. That’s why all universities or education platforms should have arrangements for internship programs. So, the settlements of this emerging workforce of young apprentices become easy in different small and big companies.
The country should increase its employment fields by setting up various industries with the help of local or foreign investment. If not possible, the Ministry of Labour and Employment should encourage the country's people to be skilled and self-employed in various fields like becoming freelancers, contractors, engineers, local businessmen, etc. can play a huge role in improving the economy in a broader sense.
