The 2014 FIFA World Cup was the 20th FIFA World Cup, the tournament for the association football world championship, which took place at several venues across Brazil. It began on 12 June with a group stage and concluded on 13 July with the championship match. Germany won the tournament and took its fourth title by defeating Runners-up Argentina 1–0 in the final. The 32 participating teams were fixed into eight groups. twelve cities were selected finding 12 football venues for the tournament. The game continued for 32 days having 64 games, 171 goals, and around 3,429,873 attendances. James Rodríguez (Colombia) was the top scorer when the best goalkeeper was Manuel Neuer (Germany). The best player and best young players of the tournament were Lionel Messi (Argentina) and Paul Pogba (France). Netherlands and Brazil took third and fourth place when Colombia was given the Fair play award. The next 21st FIFA World Cup took place in Russia in 2018 for the first time.
